Opper wins Henry Rutgers Scholar Award
Michael Opper, a senior undergraduate linguistics Major, has been awarded a Henry Rutgers Scholar Award, the highest honor for an undergraduate thesis. Michael worked on the morpho-phonology of Taiwan Hakka dialects and spent three months in Taiwan doing fieldwork. He was co-supervised by Paul de Lacy (Linguistics) and Richard Simmons (Chinese).
Michael will be attending graduate school in the linguistics department at University of Michigan in the Fall. He plans to spend his summer vacation studying in China.
