For the first time ever, the linguistics department held a recruiting open house for prospective graduate students. Seven visitors from around the globe—from Spain to Waco, Texas—arrived for the event, which was held on Friday, March 4th.
The prospective students had meetings with faculty, followed by an informal lunch with both faculty and current graduate students. After meeting the graduate students, everyone enjoyed a colloquium talk by Rutgers alumnus Adrian Brasoveanu, followed by a potluck dinner and party.
Bruce Tesar (acting Graduate Program Director) tells SNARL that while this was the first time the department held such an event, it was very successful, and might set a precedent for similar events in future years.
