Alumna Yael Sharvit has joined the UCLA Department of Linguistics as Professor of Semantics. Yael joined the Rutgers Ph.D. program when it started in 1992 and got her degree in 1997, writing a thesis on The Syntax and Semantics of Functional Relative Clauses. She has published widely in semantics, pragmatics, syntax-semantics interface, and Semitic linguistics. She is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Semantics, and co-editor of Studies in Linguistics and Philosophy. She joins another Rutgers alumna, Jessica Rett, on the faculty at UCLA.
